How early before a flight should I check in?
We ask all passengers please arrive for check-in 30 minutes prior to scheduled departure time.
What is my luggage allowance ?
Each passenger has up to 25lbs of luggage per paid seat included in their ticket and guaranteed to fly with them on all scheduled routes. This includes all baggage, including personal items such as laptops and purses. Excess of 25 lbs will be charged per pound at check in and will fly on a stand-by basis on the next flight with available space. We hold no liability or responsibility for luggage that cannot be accommodated. For safety reasons individual bags may not weigh more than 50lbs each. Due to the nature of the aircraft, please note larger sized suitcases may not be able to be accommodated.
For safety, all baggage, including purses & laptops must travel in the cargo compartment.
Where do you land in Vancouver? Is there a shuttle service available?
In Vancouver, we fly into the South Terminal at Vancouver Airport (YVR). We share the dock with Seair Seaplanes (4640 Inglis Drive, Richmond). Please wait in their waiting room for the pilot to meet you for your flight. There is a FREE shuttle to the main terminal located outside of the Seair Seaplanes Terminal. It is strongly advised to contact our office at 604.740.8889 24 hours prior to your flight to reconfirm locations. Please ensure we have a contact phone number for the passengers travelling on file for any location changes that may occur.
Where do you land in Victoria?
In Victoria, we fly into the Victoria Airport Water Aerodrome (Widgeon Drive, North Saanich). It is strongly advised to contact our office at 604.740.8889 24 hours prior to your flight to reconfirm locations. Please ensure we have a contact phone number for the passengers travelling on file for any location changes that may occur.
Where can I park?
When flying out of Sechelt we offer parking at a first come first serve basis at no charge.
When flying out of Nanaimo there are a variety of lots that can be found here.
Where can I rent a car?
Car rentals in Nanaimo can be arranged with National Car Rentals by calling 250.758.3509. In Sechelt car rentals can be arranged through Prime Rentals by calling 604.885.6422.
What transportation options are available in Sechelt?
If you need a taxi upon landing, let our staff know at check in, and they would be happy to call ahead for you. If you need to get to our base, you can contact Coast Taxi at 604.989.8294.
Alternatively, you can download the Coastal Rides Ride Share App or call 1.855.221.2226 for booking assistance. Specialty pricing applies to Sunshine Coast Air passengers for drop offs at our Sechelt base that are booked 24 hours in advance.
- Once your have set up your account enter your final destination address and Sunshine Coast Air Sechelt as your pickup location.
- You will get an estimate for the next available ride, click schedule on the bottom left corner and set your ‘leave at’ time to about 10 minutes after your scheduled flight arrival time in Sechelt. Confirm, and book.
- When organizing your departure from our float plane base, use Sunshine Coast Air Sechelt as your drop off location. Once you get an estimate for the next available ride, click schedule on the bottom left corner and set your ‘arrive by’ time to 30 minutes prior to your scheduled flight departure time from Sechelt. You will receive notification in the app to let you know when you will be picked up so you will arrive with plenty of time to get to your flight.

Why do you ask for my body weight?
The safety of passengers is our number one priority. Following the Transport Canada Regulations we require passenger body weights whenever possible in the best interest of our customers. Having accurate body weights also allows us to prevent over and under filled flights, keeping our flights on-time and safe.
Do you offer a student discount?
Sunshine Coast Air offers student discounts on our Sechelt-Nanaimo route to passengers with valid ID containing an expiry date. Please be prepared to show this ID at check in. For students who’s ID does not have an expiry date the regular fare will be charged at check in, with the option of providing us with current transcripts or proof of enrolment from the school attended within 7 days for a refund of the difference in fares.
